About the Team:
Our team operates within Amazon's Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) organization, supporting SVP and Head Scientist Rohit Prasad. We are rapidly scaling AGI teams with a deep focus on large-scale foundational models and autonomous agents. Our aim is to revolutionize human-AI interaction and ultimately reshape our daily interactions with the world.
Recently, we launched a series of Nova models, now available to our customers on Amazon Bedrock, in tandem with Alexa+, which is currently rolling out through Amazon Devices and Services.
We are seeking a Senior Recruiter in the Bay Area to drive this work forward. The role involves fostering close relationships with the scientific research and technical luminaries, promoting collaboration with Amazon in and beyond the tactical hiring roadmap.
About the role:
This position will work closely with Amazon's San Francisco Autonomy Lab and Foundations teams and will be based on-site at the Lab.
As a Principal AI Recruiter, you will be responsible for executing our immediate and long-term strategy for attracting top AI talent. You will work closely with Principal Engineering, Science, and Executive recruiters, as well as our industry teams focused on foundational delivery.
Your role will involve deriving strategic industry insights and partnering with labor and market research teams to identify and engage top talent for further discussions. This position requires a deep interest in and curiosity about how the technical market is evolving in the present day. This includes understanding general foundational LLM frameworks and tracking research techniques to specific academic labs, faculty, and startup leaders driving this work.

Key responsibilities:

Lead strategic talent acquisition for Amazon's senior technical roles, driving significant impact on the company's technological advancement.

Act as a trusted talent advisor to senior leadership, providing critical insights and guidance on high-level technical hiring decisions.

Develop and execute innovative, multi-faceted recruiting strategies to engage the total addressable market of engineering talent in a competitive landscape.


Cultivate and maintain extensive networks within the tech industry, leveraging these relationships to build a robust pipeline of top-tier candidates.

Autonomously manage end-to-end recruiting processes for key positions, from initial outreach to offer negotiation and closing.

Collaborate with research teams to identify emerging talent pools and pioneer new approaches to candidate engagement and assessment.

Lead client update meetings with executives, clearly communicating progress and strategizing on complex hiring challenges.

Conduct in-depth evaluations of senior candidates, including exploratory calls, interviews, and 360-degree reference checks.

Drive continuous improvement in Amazon's technical recruiting practices by sharing insights, writing influential documents, and implementing innovative solutions.

Demonstrate thought leadership by contributing to the company's knowledge base on industry trends, talent landscapes, and effective hiring strategies.

Coach hiring managers and leaders to enhance their talent acquisition capabilities, particularly for senior and executive-level roles.

Quickly adapt to and become proficient in new technological domains to effectively assess and attract specialized engineering talent.

Tackle complex recruiting challenges with creativity and persistence, finding solutions when traditional methods fall short.

Embody Amazon's leadership principles, particularly in being vocally self-critical and consistently raising the bar for hiring standards.

Balance multiple high-priority searches simultaneously, demonstrating strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.



- 10+ years of progressive agency and/or tech company recruiting experience with a focus on science and/or engineering candidate generation in a complex and competitive market
- 5+ years advising, influencing & hiring at the executive level

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
