The Opportunity:
Bailard is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Human Resources Business Partner to join our close-knit HR team. This role is ideal for an HR professional with a strong foundation in payroll and benefits administration who’s eager to contribute across multiple facets of HR. Reporting to the Vice President, Head of Human Resources, this position supports core HR operations—especially payroll and 401(k) administration—while helping to enhance employee engagement, improve systems and processes, and support the employee experience. Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration: Manage end-to-end payroll processes for employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance with company policies, and adherence to relevant labor laws. Work closely with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate processing of salaries, benefits, and deductions.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as company policies and procedures. Provide regular HR metrics and reports on turnover, employee engagement, and other HR-related data to senior management.
HR Systems & Processes: Support and manage HR systems and tools, ensuring accurate employee data and smooth HR operations. Assist with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) maintenance, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
Talent Management: Support talent acquisition efforts by helping to recruit, onboard, and orient new employees. Assist with performance management processes, including employee evaluations and feedback.
HR Administration: Maintain HR records, including employee data, and ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and company policies. Help process payroll, benefits, and other HR-related documentation.
Employee Engagement: Help implement and monitor employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, feedback sessions, and team-building activities to enhance workplace culture.
Training and Development: Assist in coordinating training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs for employees to improve skills and performance.
Policy and Procedure Support: Assist in the development and communication of HR policies, ensuring consistency in application across all departments.
HR Reporting and Analytics: Support the collection and analysis of HR data (e.g., turnover rates, headcount, diversity metrics) to provide insights to management and assist with workforce planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, including experience in payroll administration.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, employment law, and payroll processes.
- Proficiency in HR software (e.g., HRIS, payroll systems, Applicant Tracking Systems).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycor, or similar platforms.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
- Knowledge of compliance regulations related to payroll and benefits.

Where you’ll be:
Bailard, Inc. has offices located in San Francisco and Foster City. This role will primarily be hybrid from our San Francisco office, with the ability to work remotely two days a week. This position will not be eligible for relocation support or sponsorship.
