This role is a key part of a people-focused HR function responsible for shaping, managing, and continuously improving employee benefits programs that directly impact colleague experience and organizational well-being. You will oversee the full lifecycle of benefits administration, from health and welfare programs to retirement, leave of absence, and wellness initiatives. Acting as both an operational expert and strategic partner, you will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to ensure programs are compliant, competitive, and cost-effective. The role requires strong analytical thinking to evaluate data, benchmark offerings, and guide benefits decisions. You will also play a central role in vendor governance, employee communication, and annual benefits cycles such as open enrollment. Accountabilities:
  • Oversee administration of all employee benefits programs, including health and welfare, retirement, wellness, leave of absence, and voluntary benefits
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and business leaders to design and implement effective benefits strategies
  • Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, and benefits vendors, including performance reviews, issue resolution, and service-level management
  • Lead leave of absence administration (FMLA, ADA, company leave programs), ensuring compliance, accurate pay coordination, and effective communication
  • Conduct benefits analytics and benchmarking to evaluate program effectiveness and support data-driven improvements
  • Manage day-to-day benefits operations, including eligibility, HRIS and vendor data feeds, reconciliations, invoicing, and audit readiness
  • Lead open enrollment planning and execution, including communications, system testing, and cross-functional coordination
  • Support benefits renewals and RFP processes by analyzing proposals and making cost-effective recommendations
  • Develop and maintain clear, compliant, and engaging benefits communications for employees
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local benefits regulations and support audit and reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR function
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and FMLA/ADA coordination
  • Proven experience managing open enrollment cycles and benefits program implementations or changes
  • Experience working with benefits vendors and brokers, including performance and escalation management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct benchmarking, and support decision-making
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with strong reporting and data analysis capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organizational, project management, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
