This role is a strategic leadership position responsible for designing and implementing applied commercial learning experiences that drive measurable business impact. The Commercial L&D Director focuses on building field and leadership capabilities across client-facing teams, translating business strategy into actionable skills, behaviors, and decision-making frameworks. You will develop learning journeys, programs, and experiential solutions that enhance sales execution, business acumen, account management, and leadership performance. The role includes collaborating with HR, business leaders, and cross-functional partners to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities. The successful candidate will continuously assess capability gaps, measure program effectiveness, and evolve solutions to maximize field readiness and business outcomes. This position thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with multiple initiatives and high visibility to senior leadership.

Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of applied commercial capability programs, including sales execution, business acumen, account management, and field leadership development
- Translate commercial priorities and capability gaps into targeted, role-specific development pathways and learning experiences
- Collaborate with HR and enterprise leadership to align learning solutions with leadership frameworks, standards, and organizational goals
- Develop blended learning solutions including live, virtual, and experiential programs that drive observable behavior change and performance improvement
- Define and monitor metrics to assess learning effectiveness, adoption, and business impact
- Conduct needs assessments and gather stakeholder input to continuously refine and enhance learning experiences
- Build leadership capability in strategic decision-making, financial acumen, and cross-functional collaboration
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 8–15 years of experience in commercial learning, sales training, or leadership development in biotech, pharmaceutical, or related industries
- Minimum 5 years of field sales leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering applied commercial and leader capability programs (virtual, live, blended)
- Strong facilitation skills with executive presence and ability to influence senior leaders
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and communication skills in a matrixed environment
- Proven ability to assess capability gaps, measure learning outcomes, and apply data to improve programs
- Results-driven, collaborative, and able to manage multiple initiatives concurrently
