This leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that supports a high-growth, science-driven organization operating in a competitive biotech landscape. You will oversee compensation, equity, benefits, and wellness programs designed to attract and retain top-tier scientific, technical, and commercial talent. The role requires close collaboration with executive leadership, Finance, Legal, and HR teams to ensure rewards programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business strategy. You will act as a key advisor on pay philosophy, executive compensation, and incentive design while ensuring scalability as the organization evolves from development to commercialization. This is a highly strategic yet hands-on role requiring strong analytical capability and leadership presence. It offers the opportunity to directly influence talent attraction, retention, and organizational growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and execute a global total rewards strategy aligned with business goals, organizational growth stages, and talent priorities.
  • Design, manage, and optimize compensation programs including base pay, annual incentives, long-term incentives, equity, and sales compensation plans.
  • Lead annual compensation cycles including merit increases, bonus planning, equity grants, and market adjustments.
  • Partner with executive leadership, Finance, and Legal on executive compensation and Board/Compensation Committee materials.
  • Conduct market benchmarking, pay equity analysis, and compensation modeling to ensure competitiveness and fairness.
  • Oversee benefits and wellness programs including health, retirement, leave, and wellbeing initiatives while managing vendor relationships and renewals.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable compensation, benefits, and equity regulations across relevant jurisdictions.
  • Develop analytics and reporting frameworks to evaluate total rewards effectiveness, cost efficiency, and employee value perception.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration on rewards strategy during organizational growth, transformation, and potential M&A activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, including compensation and benefits leadership roles.
  • Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated and complex industries.
  • Strong expertise in compensation design, equity programs, and executive compensation practices.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and Compensation Committees or Boards.
  • Strong proficiency in HRIS and compensation systems (e.g., Workday, Radford/WTW) and equity administration tools.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with ability to translate data into actionable strategy.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving, and ambiguous environment with a scalable mindset.
  • Experience with global or multi-region total rewards programs is a plus.
