The Employee Relations Partner at Altera will be responsible for leading the creation and execution of employee relations strategies and programs. The goal of these initiatives is to cultivate a positive work environment, ensure adherence to labor laws, and uphold Altera’s mission and values. This position calls for a seasoned professional with significant experience in employee relations, ideally within large technology or semiconductor companies. 

The Employee Relations Partner will collaborate closely with HR leadership, legal counsel, and global business leaders. work will involve addressing complex employee issues, driving initiatives to boost employee engagement and organizational effectiveness, and mitigating operational and organizational risk through top-tier employee relations standards. They will approach employee relations issues with objectivity and balance, demonstrating sensitivity to employee complaints while also aligning with Altera’s high-performance culture, expectations, and company policies. 
 
As the Employee Relations Partner, you'll foster an inclusive environment where all voices are valued and heard. You'll encourage respectful debate and the understanding of diverse perspectives. 

This is an individual contributor role that reports to the Sr. Director, Human Resources Business Partner and L&D.  This position will require to report into the office four days per week. 
 
Responsibilities:
 

  • Provide expert guidance and oversight of comprehensive Employee Relations strategy and programs. 

  • Ensure alignment with Altera's business objectives and culture, resulting in integrated solutions for employee-related issues that are built and delivered in the right way. 

  • Conduct thorough investigations and resolution of complex employee issues fairly and consistently.  

  • Provide briefings and practical, effective recommendations to Legal, Executive Leadership, and key stakeholders to facilitate timely consensus and solutions on complex issues. 

  • Partner with legal counsel to respond to employment-related litigation and regulatory matters 

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and mitigate legal risks 

  • Develop, update, and implement People policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and foster a positive workplace culture, compliant with U.S laws and regulations (ADA, ADEA, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, EEOC) as well as locally-applicable laws across our international sites. 

  • Lead global Accommodations and caregiver exceptions program to ensure seamless coordination, compliance, and exceptional service delivery for employees 

  • Develop and track employee relations metrics to identify and predict trends. Use these insights to proactively create programs and practices that address potential issues and optimize the employee experience. Present on ER issues, trends, and metrics to Executive Leadership. 

  • Act as a consultant and advisor, provide training and coaching to HR teams, managers, and employees on ER issues, company policies and relevant employment compliance issues. 

  • Represent Altera in external forums and develop strong relationships with diverse internal and external networks. 

  • Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality. 

  • You will be assigned miscellaneous projects from the HRBP and L&D function. 

Salary Range

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:

Minimum  

  • BS/BA or JD degree and 8+ years of relevant work experience and at least 3+ years employee relations, or equivalent experience. 

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on investigations experience, including employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation 

  • Experience with US employment and human resources related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices 

  • Experience with international labor practices in countries where Altera does business including industrial relations such as Workers Councils 

  • Experience in employee relations investigations providing a customer-first approach to work and thriving in a fast-paced business environment 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience 

  • Experience with building a team and developing others 
     
     

Preferred  

  • Proven experience designing and administering scalable employee relations and compliance related processes and programs that drive change in a fast paced dynamic environment 

  • Ability to proactively share a point of view, appropriately challenge assumptions, consider and adapt to alternative perspectives, and take initiative to drive matters to closure 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions 

  • Familiarity with HR/ ER technology and data mindset
