This leadership role is responsible for overseeing and strengthening global payroll operations within a fast-growing, technology-driven organization.
You will manage complex payroll processes across multiple entities, jurisdictions, and external providers while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on execution, partnering closely with Finance, HR, Legal, Tax, and business stakeholders.
You will drive process improvements, strengthen controls, and enhance payroll systems to support organizational growth.

Accountabilities:

The Global Payroll Senior Manager will own the execution, optimization, and governance of global payroll operations while ensuring employees are paid accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Lead and oversee recurring global payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution across multiple entities and regions.
  • Manage payroll processes including wages, bonuses, commissions, benefits deductions, leaves, terminations, retroactive adjustments, and equity-related payroll activities.
  • Oversee payroll inputs, validations, approvals, funding coordination, reconciliations, close support, and post-payroll reporting.
  • Maintain strong payroll controls, documentation, approval workflows, and audit-ready processes in partnership with Finance and compliance stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with global payroll providers, employer-of-record partners, payroll tax providers, and benefits administrators.
  • Establish effective vendor management practices, including issue tracking, performance reviews, escalation processes, and service improvements.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Procurement, Enterprise Applications, and other teams to support payroll execution and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Resolve complex payroll issues, employee escalations, provider challenges, audit requests, and compliance-related questions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll workflows, reduce manual processes, strengthen reporting, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Support payroll system enhancements, integrations, provider transitions, entity expansions, and organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain payroll metrics and reporting, including processing accuracy, cycle completion, issue trends, reconciliation status, and compliance activities.
  • Lead and develop payroll team members by establishing clear expectations, improving collaboration, and building operational consistency.
  • Maintain payroll documentation including calendars, standard operating procedures, process guides, approval matrices, and compliance checklists.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll leader with strong expertise in global payroll operations, compliance, vendor management, and process optimization within complex organizations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including significant responsibility for U.S. multi-state payroll and international payroll operations.
  • 3+ years of payroll leadership experience managing teams, outsourced providers, or cross-functional payroll operations.
  • Proven experience managing payroll in multi-entity and multi-jurisdiction environments with external payroll vendors or EOR partners.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax requirements, wage and hour regulations, statutory deductions, benefits deductions, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and compliance practices.
  • Experience supporting audit processes, maintaining documentation, strengthening controls, and improving operational workflows.
  • Experience with payroll and HR systems such as ADP, ADP Celergo, Workday, NetSuite, EOR platforms, or similar technologies preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience in SaaS, cybersecurity, technology, software, private equity-backed, or global organizations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of international payroll operations through outsourced providers, local partners, or global employment solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to employees, executives, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong attention to detail, integrity, discretion, and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong process improvement mindset with interest in automation, scalable workflows, and operational efficiency.
