This senior consulting role combines strategic HR leadership, organizational development, and hands-on advisory work within complex healthcare environments. You will act as a trusted partner to executive teams in community health organizations, supporting both interim HR leadership and long-term workforce transformation initiatives. The role spans the full HR spectrum, including talent strategy, employee relations, compliance, compensation design, and HR technology implementation. You will also contribute to business development efforts by shaping proposals, expanding client relationships, and supporting growth of consulting services. Operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across strategy, operations, and clinical advisory functions. This is a highly impactful position for an experienced HR leader who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving complex organizational challenges, and is passionate about strengthening healthcare delivery systems.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as interim HR leader for healthcare client organizations, providing strategic and operational guidance across all people-related functions.
  • Conduct comprehensive HR assessments to identify gaps in compliance, culture, workforce structure, systems, and talent strategy.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with client mission, executive priorities, and organizational goals.
  • Design and improve HR policies, employee handbooks, and compliance frameworks in alignment with employment law and regulatory standards.
  • Lead workforce planning, staffing strategy, and recruitment support in collaboration with internal recruiting teams and client stakeholders.
  • Design and implement compensation, benefits, and employee engagement programs tailored to client needs.
  • Oversee HRIS planning, implementation, optimization, and data integrity across client systems.
  • Manage complex employee relations cases, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support leadership development and organizational learning strategies to strengthen workforce capability and succession pipelines.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal development, client relationship building, and service expansion.
  • Mentor internal team members and contribute to overall practice development and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements:

  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including strategic HR, talent management, and organizational development responsibilities.
  • Healthcare industry experience required; experience in community health centers strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, employment law, and regulatory frameworks (California employment law preferred).
  • Experience designing and implementing HR strategies, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, UKG, Paycom) and data-driven HR decision-making.
  • Proven ability to advise senior executives and lead client-facing strategic discussions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret workforce data and translate insights into action.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • SHRM certification and bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and work across multiple U.S. time zones.
