This role is a key leadership position responsible for shaping and executing HR strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience. You will partner with site leaders to provide coaching on employment issues, policy interpretation, dispute resolution, and workforce planning, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role oversees HR staff, drives initiatives to strengthen culture and engagement, and supports programs in health, safety, and environmental standards. Success in this position requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to HR challenges in dynamic distribution or manufacturing environments. The Human Resource Director will influence strategic decisions, guide senior management, and help maintain a high-performing, compliant, and inclusive workplace.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide coaching and guidance to site leaders and associates on employment matters, including policy interpretation, dispute resolution, corrective actions, leaves of absence, harassment, and terminations.
  • Facilitate employee engagement surveys, analyze trends, and recommend actionable strategies to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Affirmative Action Programs where applicable, complete required reporting, and respond to EEOC or unemployment claims.
  • Partner with site leadership to create workforce staffing plans, support recruiting efforts, and maintain appropriate workforce levels to reduce turnover.
  • Lead HR staff by providing daily direction, proactive guidance, issue escalation, and support for professional development.
  • Support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives to reduce accidents, injuries, and incidents, promoting a culture of prevention and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field; advanced HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of HR leadership experience in distribution, manufacturing, or related operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and influence leaders at all organizational levels.
  • Experience in workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work collaboratively across functions.
