We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join our team. The goal of a Payroll Manager at Wisk is to ensure that our workforce is compensated accurately and timely, while contributing to the growth and success of our organization.

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days. 

In this role you will be the subject matter expert for all things payroll and will handle all aspects of the payroll process to distribute accurate and timely payroll payments. As part of the Finance team, the Payroll Manager will uphold the values of compliance, integrity, and transparency. In addition, you will be expected to maintain strong internal controls and attention to detail to prevent errors. You will work closely with the Accounting and People teams to ensure accuracy for all aspects of employee compensation for accurate financial reporting.

What you will do: 

  • Manage the end to end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for wages, withholdings, taxation and employee changes.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, and labor laws including reporting, wage garnishments, and other legally required deductions.

  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll data to verify accuracy and identify potential areas of improvement.

  • Analyze existing payroll processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices for future conversions.

  • Understand the specific needs of the manufacturing industry regarding payroll processing, including shift differentials, overtime calculations, and unique payroll challenges.

  • Resolve payroll errors quickly and accurately.

  • Provide training and support to managers and employees on using the timekeeping system effectively.

  • Establish internal controls to prevent payroll errors and consistently follow payroll policies and procedures.

  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. Relevant certifications (CPP, etc.) are a plus.

  • At least (8 years) experience in payroll operations management.

  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements. Canadian tax experience is a plus.

  • Previous experience implementing and managing timekeeping systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems. Experience with Workday and ADP is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel to analyze and review large payroll data sets.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Pay range the company expects to pay: $127,917 - $150,491 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
