This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Human Resources Business Partner, Commercial based in the United States.

This is a senior HR leadership role supporting Sales and field-based Commercial teams across the US and Canada.
You’ll partner directly with senior and executive leaders to align people strategies with business priorities and growth objectives.
The role combines strategic HR consulting with hands-on execution across talent, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and change.
You’ll help shape leadership capability, succession planning, organizational design, and the employee experience across a complex commercial organization.
Working in a matrixed environment, you’ll influence stakeholders across HR, Legal, Finance, and other business functions.
The position offers significant visibility and the opportunity to translate workforce insights into measurable business outcomes.
Success requires strong commercial judgment, executive presence, analytical thinking, and the ability to build trust while constructively challenging leaders.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with senior Commercial leaders and the VP of HR for Sales to align people strategies with business priorities, growth plans, and workforce requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to executive and senior leaders on talent strategy, organization design, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, and organizational capability.
  • Develop and execute HR strategies supporting Sales and distributed, customer-facing Commercial teams across the US and Canada.
  • Lead and support talent reviews, succession planning, leadership development, and high-potential identification using workforce data and organizational insights.
  • Advise leaders through organizational changes, including restructurings, operating model changes, productivity initiatives, team effectiveness programs, and change adoption.
  • Provide guidance on performance management, employee relations, investigations, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns while supporting consistent and compliant employment practices.
  • Analyze workforce metrics, talent data, and organizational trends to assess organizational health and recommend practical actions.
  • Coach leaders on communication, inclusive leadership, employee engagement, accountability, and team performance.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, People Operations, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated people solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, and practices to increase efficiency, consistency, and business impact.
  • Balance long-term strategic HR partnership with hands-on execution and ownership as a senior individual contributor.

Requirements

  • Significant progressive HR experience, including substantial experience in a senior HR Business Partner or comparable strategic HR role within a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Sales, Commercial, field-based, customer-facing, or revenue-generating organizations.
  • Proven experience advising executive-level and senior leadership stakeholders, with the ability to influence and constructively challenge leaders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand business drivers, translate priorities into people strategies, and connect HR initiatives to measurable outcomes.
  • Experience operating successfully within complex, matrixed organizations involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Strong expertise in organizational design, workforce planning, talent reviews, succession planning, leadership effectiveness, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Experience leading or supporting organizational change, including restructuring, change communications, stakeholder alignment, and adoption planning.
  • Strong judgment in employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, policy interpretation, and risk-aware decision-making.
  • Excellent consulting, coaching, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to establish credibility at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including interpreting workforce data and converting insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable with hands-on execution in a senior individual contributor role.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership and fair, consistent employment practices.
  • Experience supporting regulated or technical industries such as life sciences, healthcare, food safety, diagnostics, manufacturing, industrial, or technology is preferred.
  • Experience with global or multinational teams, geographically distributed workforces, sales transformations, go-to-market changes, territory redesign, or commercial effectiveness initiatives is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HR systems, workforce dashboards, engagement platforms, or people analytics tools is a plus.
  • An advanced degree or professional HR certification such as SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, or equivalent is desirable.
