About the Role
This is the operational backbone of the People function. The Manager, Talent Operations owns compliance, payroll oversight, systems integrity, and operational excellence across the full teammate lifecycle.
This role is proactive and future focused. You will anticipate regulatory changes, bring compliance updates forward before risk emerges, and build scalable tools, SOPs, and operating rhythms that protect and strengthen the organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Build and own the People Team operating infrastructure, ensuring clarity of ownership, clean handoffs, and operational precision across the teammate lifecycle
- Lead cross-functional alignment between People, Payroll, Finance, and Operations to eliminate friction and strengthen execution
- Own payroll oversight and ensure accurate, timely processing across all hospitals and Community Support Team functions
- Proactively manage compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by monitoring regulatory changes and implementing policy, process, and system updates in advance of impact
- Design and maintain a master compliance calendar with clear ownership and zero missed obligations to support audits, reporting, and enterprise risk mitigation
- Build scalable SOPs, workflows, and automation that simplify operations and elevate the teammate experience
- Manage People systems including Rippling, Employee Navigator, PayPro, Checkr, LMS and related platforms
- Lead ticket management for the People function and identify patterns to proactively resolve root causes
- Partner with Hospital Leadership Teams to ensure proper timekeeping, wage and hour compliance, and documentation
- Oversee benefits administration and vendor relationships
- Lead People operational due diligence and post-acquisition integration, ensuring compliance alignment, payroll continuity, benefits setup, and systems readiness
- Drive system enhancements and infrastructure improvements to support scale and acquisitions
About You
- 5+ years of People Operations or HR Operations experience
- Deep knowledge of California employment law and multi site compliance
- Strong payroll oversight and systems experience
- Experience managing HRIS and benefits platforms
- Highly process oriented with strong documentation capability
- Data informed, detail oriented, and operationally disciplined
- Calm, steady, and confident navigating complex compliance matters
- Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate risk before it surfaces
