This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Payroll Analyst based in the United States.

This role is a key part of a fast-paced Finance organization, responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across the US and Canada. You will manage full-cycle payroll processes while serving as a trusted point of contact for employees and internal stakeholders on all payroll-related matters. The position goes beyond processing, involving deep ownership of equity compensation payroll, month-end close activities, and system optimization within Workday. You will collaborate closely with HR, Legal, Stock Administration, and Accounting teams to ensure seamless payroll execution and strong internal controls. Accountabilities:
  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for US (multi-state) and Canadian employees across multiple payroll cycles
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll inputs including hires, terminations, tax updates, garnishments, and adjustments
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for employees and internal stakeholders, resolving inquiries with accuracy and urgency
  • Manage Workday Payroll operations, including reporting, EIB uploads, deductions, and system troubleshooting
  • Support equity compensation payroll processes including RSUs, NSOs, and ISOs in coordination with Stock Administration
  • Prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll-related GL accounts, and support month-end close activities
  • Ensure compliance with US and Canadian payroll regulations, including federal, state, and provincial requirements
  • Lead year-end payroll activities such as W-2, T4, and related reconciliations and filings
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and internal control enhancements across payroll operations

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in payroll operations using Workday as the primary system
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll for both US (multi-state) and Canadian employees
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations across US federal, state, and local jurisdictions, with Canadian payroll knowledge
  • Experience handling equity compensation payroll including RSUs, NSOs, and ISOs
  • Hands-on experience supporting month-end close, including journal entries and GL reconciliations
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and large dataset analysis
  • Strong attention to detail with a track record of high accuracy in complex payroll environments
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to troubleshoot payroll issues end-to-end
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across Finance, HR, Legal, and external stakeholders
  • Preferred: experience with Workday optimization, audits, and SOX-controlled environments
